Pinterest As interracial dating, integration and cross-cultural friendships increase, many people find themselves attending events in which they are the minority, and have no frame of reference from which to base their etiquette. In an effort to help bridge the cultural gaps we all have to traverse at some point, I have created a few rules for all my Caucasian friends who might find themselves at a black cookout: You gotta bring something:
To all you ladies who would love to bag yourselves a gorgeous Englishman as your lover or husband, To Trap an Englishman is the definitive guide on how to win and keep the heart of an Englishman.
The Belgian town of Duffel in the province of Antwerp was known as a clothmaking town in the 15th century that exported its cloth all over Europe. However, the duffle coat itself was never produced in the namesake city, nor was it made from Duffel fabric. At the time, John Partridge, a British purveyor of outerwear, began to design and offer the duffle coat for sale. The look back then was quite different from today, though it already featured the characteristic wooden toggles.
Just like the modern duffle coat, it was tailored with a hood and a horizontal toggle closure. Toggle closures have rarely been used in menswear for the last years. Also, Colonel David Sterling liked his coat so much that he even wore it in the desert! After the war, the military released surplus duffle coats to the public, and artists, students, and intellectuals wore them. After the coat had reached the peak of its popularity, it never came close to the same level of success again.
You will still see duffle coats on the street today, even though these models are often fashion interpretations of the original, far from the real thing. It features a roomy box-cut with a hood, a square shoulder yoke, and large patch pockets with hemp rope and wooden toggle closures. The Fabric The Original Huge Duffle coat worn elegantly As mentioned above, this coat got its name, though indirectly, from the Belgian city of Duffel and the rough and heavy linen and woolen cloth produced there.
As a side note, this is also the fabric used for the original duffle bag.

Coral Lansbury, writer and mother of Malcolm Turnbull, in June Williamson, she established herself as a promising writer from an early age; her first radio script was accepted when she was just A brilliant student, enrolled at North Sydney High, her mother wanted her to leave school at 11, by which time Coral had already completed her intermediate certificate, but the education department wouldn’t allow it. Coral finished her schooling by the age of 15, but never matriculated.
At 17 she’d written her first play — she would write eight more over the next few years. As one regional paper put it in , “the vivacious young actress … is rapidly making her name for herself in radio”. Several decades later, Lansbury would open up about the difficulties she faced juggling her career with early motherhood, describing her son as a somewhat trying child who loved to argue, and who would burst in from kindergarten at the nearby leafy Vaucluse Public like a “bundle of demonic energy”.
If Malcolm was a handful, he was more so because the young boy struggled with asthma. In one letter to Bruce, Coral wrote: She achieved terrific grades and completed her degree at Sydney University with double honours in English and History, but was ineligible to graduate because she had never matriculated. By the mid th century, many of the grandest eastern suburbs estates of the previous century had been carved up, subdivided or reclaimed for public use.
After Japanese submarines bombarded Sydney in , many families moved inland and coastal property prices plunged.

And while Returning Registration is only open to people who attended San Diego Comic-Con this past July, apparently some of you are still headed into your first badge sale. I guess that’s not surprising, since many first-timers probably got their badges through a friend who handled the sale. Below are answers to the questions I’ve gotten about Returning Reg. You can only buy for people who attended If you were a first-timer this year, you might be eager to open the door to your friends who haven’t gone yet – but that will have to wait for Open Registration.
This Saturday, you’re only allowed to buy for people who swiped their badges this past summer. They have to be official attendees, not press, pros or anything else. The various categories of SDCC citizens can involve a fair amount of crossover. However, only people with a attendee badge can participate in Ret Reg. If you or your friends are transitioning from one category to another, you’ll have to wait for Open Reg. You can’t Paypal, Zelle, etc – this is credit card only.

Contact The History of the Folding Bike There have been many who have laid claim to the invention of the folding bike. Humorously, a bike manufacturer who shall remain nameless so as to not unduly embarrass them audaciously claims on their website to have produced the world’s first folding bike in Wishful thinking by their marketing department I suppose. The truth is that the folding bike has been around for considerably longer than one might imagine and most claims of being the first are erroneous.
First things first though, you can’t have a folding bike without the invention of the bicycle itself. So a very short history lesson on the bicycle is in order. Here again we have some disputed claims of invention and historians will probably never be able to identify the exact moment of invention. For a while some had claimed that Leonardo Da Vinci invented the bicycle based on a sketch found in his Codex Atlanticus.
However, this sketch was later determined to be a forgery, though many historical accounts written before this forgery was discovered still credit Da Vinci as the inventor of the bicycle. There were a few “pre-bicycles” invented before the appearance of what one would recognize as a bicycle. The first of these was probably the “Celerifere” developed by a French count named Mede de Sivrac in

Description of the Original Globe () The original Globe Theatre opened in the fall of on the south bank of the Thames River, across from central London.
It was believed to be a three-story, wood-framed building with plastered outside walls joining at angles to form a polygon with approximately twenty sides. It was constructed on land owned by the son of Thomas Brend , a scrivener one who copied documents, wrote letters, and performed other tasks requiring the ability to read and write. Brend had purchased the land in and, upon his death in , bequeathed it to his son, Nicholas.
Nicholas then leased part of the land to the builders of the Globe. The interior of the structure resembled that of a modern opera house, with three galleries protected from rain and sunlight by a roof. About 2, playgoers paid two or more pennies to sit in these galleries. The stage, said to be about fifteen yards wide and nine yards deep, was raised four to six feet from ground level. Above the stage was a ceiling supported by pillars.
Above the ceiling was a balcony from which actors could recite lines. The stage projected forward into a roofless yard where up to 1, “groundlings” or “stinklings,” who each paid a “gatherer” a penny for admission, stood shoulder to shoulder under a hot sun or threatening clouds. This roofless yard allowed sunlight to illuminate the stage. Playgoers could also sit in seats to the left and right of the stage if their wallets were fat enough to pay the high price.
Shakespeare himself belittled them in Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, calling them through lines spoken by Hamlet incapable of comprehending anything more than dumbshows pantomimes. But because the groundlings liked the glamour and glitter of a play, they regularly attended performances at the Globe.
